Avocado
Bill from the USA

Sprouting avocados is very easy. Place the seed upright in some washed sand and place outside in a shaded area, not in direct sunlight. The outer portion of the seed must be peeled away (the brown skin) on the outside. Place it in the pot with the pointed end up. Water it regularly as you would any other plant. When it reaches 8-10 inches tall, transplant it into a medium size pot with "potting" soil. Feed in regularly with miracle grown. If you wish for it to develop fruit, it must be placed in the ground and in sandy type soil. The plant must be protected from frost and temperatures below 40 degrees. Fruit will develop in 5-9 years depending on the type of seed. Develops into a large tree in about 10 years.
