Stephanie from US asks: I live in zone 9 and have had an Allamanda for 2 years. It faces west and is about 3-4 ft tall now. I have noticed that the buds do not bloom and fall off and the leaves are curled up. Is this anything I can do to save the plant?

Help Stephanie with an answer

Suse says : Hi, I live in zone 9 also and had the same problems, non-blooming and leaves falling off. A friend suggested I loosen the soil around my plant, buy Osmocote (approx. $15), and mulch around the plant. I followed the suggestions and within a month the allamanda looks great, and FULL of blooms. Hope this helps.

Lauren from USA asks: I live in central florida and have 2 allamanda bushes that I have had for 2 1/2 years. They are located on either sides of my garage. The leaves of the one on the right began turning yellow in the middle, and on the outer edge of the leaves it looks as if they are burnt(dark brown, crunchy, and dead looking). The leaves are all beginning to fall off, and the plant is looking very thinned out. This happened several months ago and my Grandfather suggested sprinkling their base with epson salt, bone meal, and fertilizer. This seemed to be working for several weeks. However, now the plant is sick again and I don`t know what to do. Can you please help?

Susan Colantuono from USA asks: My leaves are turning yellow, but have dark brown to black distinct round spots on the leaves. Just transplanted from the nursery. HELP! I love this plant and live in central Florida.

Help Susan Colantuono with an answer

Yourgarden Specialist Marian says : It is probably leaf spots are caused by fungi or bacteria. Brown or black spots and patches may be either ragged or circular. Remove infected leaves when the plant is dry. Leaves that collect around the base of the plant should be raked up and disposed of. Avoid overhead irrigation if possible; water should be directed at soil level. For fungal leaf spots, use a recommended fungicide according to label directions.
