| Sam from USA asks: |
Bought and planted several Japanese Blueberry trees begining May, all are doing well except one. We have so many brown, crisp leaves that are falling off that tree. The tree itself still has green leaves, but they are not as dense as when we first bought them. We doubled the watering time thinking that the drought like weather in Houston might be a problem. It does not seem to help. Any ideas?

It does sound like a blight--either bacterial or fungal. You can take a stem with some of the leaves to your County Extension agent and he will be able to tell you what you are dealing with.

| Gaynor Brown from England asks: |
I havelots of ants on my bush .How do I get rid of them safely..Gaynor
Help Gaynor Brown with an answer |
| Green Zeus says : |
What kind of bush is this??? Any time you see ants on a plant, you have to assume it has been attacked by aphids. Ants farm the honeydew that the ants expel. If you look under the leaves, you should see the aphids. Light infestations can be knocked off by vigorously spraying the plant with water-do this in the early morning 3 times, once every other day. If that doesn`t work, use insectacidal soap. Last resort is pyrethrum-spray 2 times, 3-4 days apart.

| Jack Hill from usa asks: |
My Japanese Blueberry tree has an inordinate amount of red leaves this year. I feed a hormone every two weeks which has helped in the past, but I wonder if I need to do something else to help retain the greenery.
The tree is about 20 x 30 feet and 4 years old.
Thanks for your help.

| Joan Johnson from USA asks: |
This tree has an insect that I cannot control. It feeds onthe underside of the leaves and turns the upper side black with soot. I have sprayed it with various insecticides but to no avail. The landscaper says I will just have to remove it because he has not been able to control it himself. Please let me know if this is common in this tree and what could possibly be used to control it. I love the tree and don`t want to lose it.

| Ashlee from United States asks: |
I have a potted blueberry bush that I do not know how to care for in the winter. Ideally, I would like to keep it potted to put on our deck in the summer. I live in zone 4 and know it will not survive on the deck all winter! Is it possible to bring this indoors during the winter, or does it need to be buried in the ground?

| Jan Exo from USA asks: |
Can you start a blueberrry bush from a cutting?
Help Jan Exo with an answer |
| Shane Woodruff says : |
Sure, people do it all the time. The easiest way for a small timer like me is to scratch the bark off a low lying branch and weigh it down with something on the ground still attached to the parent plant with a rock or something.

| Tim Roche from USA asks: |
How do I take a clipping from a blueberry bush to grow another?
Help Tim Roche with an answer |
| DR Dub says : |
The Important thing to remember is the cutting has no root system so you have to keep the cutting humid constantly, try using a pot and put a clear bag over the top to trap ep moisture on the plant while having it under flourescent grow light`s or in the shade outside where it will get just enough sun light so that it does not burn up. in a week or two you should have a clone. I could go into more detail but Im not going to for now

| Val Morris from USA asks: |
We live in east central Alabama. We have several blueberry bushes that we have had for around 10 years and are getting too tall. When is the best time to prune the tall branches for this area?
Help Val Morris with an answer |
| Yourgarden specialist Marian says : |
The best time to prune the blueberry bushes is from January to mid march, before the growth begins. In late winter pruning you can better indentify and remove injured/ dead wood. However, blueberries can be pruned any time from the end of harvest till the following spring.
