Dawn says : Hey there, my son and I just recently did this with cherry tomatoes and it was incredibly easy! All I did was cut a cherry tomatoe from the store in half and scoop out the seeds. We planted them in regular dirt (well as regular as you can find in GA) and watered them on a daily basis. They started blooming less then a week later! It`s only been about 2 weeks now but they are still in the pot and they are about 3 inches tall now. It`s amazing!

The first year I watered copiuosly as advised by the supplier and the tree looked perfectly happy for at least 3 yrs. Rhonda Bradley from usa asks: my weeping cherry tree is about 5 years old. It has been healthy as far as I know and blooms out beautiful in early spring. recently i started noticing a few leaves which have turned yellow and red then the discolored leaves increased my tree has 2 babies growing beside it as well and they are having the same problem. I have found fairly large ants crawling on the leaves but I never thought ants could do this kind of damage. many of the leaves have visible holes in them as if something were chewing on them. my tree sits on a mound of mulch in full sunlight. up until now there has never been a problem with the tree,I have tried spraying it down with alot of water and spraying an insecticide which can be used on edible plants so is supposed to be considered safe. I am afraid I might loose this tree and need some suggestions as to what could be doing this and what to do. any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

mike mankowski from us northern indiana asks: what is the best time & proper way to prune a tree like this to make it weep.the tree has chutes everywhere on the canopy

Yourgarden Specialist Marian says : weeping cherries should be pruned to maintain their weeping shape. Cherries fruit on 1-year-old shoots and lateral spurs, so you can prune off new material as you see fit. Make sure you remove and destroy any fallen wood, leaves and old fruit as this will help to reduce the risk of disease. Cuts should be made about 1/8th of an inch above a bud and should be made on an angle to allow water to drain off.
