Ginkgo Biloba Tree
Michelle from USA asks:
I have a Ginkgo Biloba tree and have noticed what appears to be more of these trees growing right next to it. Are these branches growing from the trunk beneath the soil/mulch? Do I need to remove them to ensure the continued health of the "main" tree?
No, they are new trees sprouting from the roots at the base of the tree. Most ginkgos are grafted male cultivars, and some will sprout new trees from the base. These should be removed to focus the energy to the main trunk.
