Gabriel from Queens, NY asks: I want to regrow the grass in my backyard...when is the best time to plant the grass seeds, and how do I do it?

Help Gabriel with an answer

Green Zeus says : I have had the best success by sowing grass in late Sept. I live in Ohio, so your area is about the same as mine. Those consistent autumn rains really give the seed a great start. And the cooler temps help too. If you HAVE to do it in summer you might want to spread straw over it and you will need to water it every day. The straw helps keep moisture in and prevent the birds from eating the seed. But birds eating the seeds doesn`t really seem to be a big problem. If you have a huge area, you may want to use a spreader. Broadcasting the seed by hand works just fine.
